Fixed Right – First Time
Being only a newer area (15-20 years old) the homes in Skye are starting to show signs of wear and tear. We constantly attend leaking toilets and hot water systems that are beginning to break down due to age. The water pressure in the area is high and therefore causes issues for anyone who is renovating and updating their fixtures with newer style mixer taps or toilets.
We always test the water pressure in every home in Skye and find that a pressure regulator is needed. Most of the drains in the area are holding up well if used correctly. We have installed several Cillit Backwash filters in the area too to help with water quality.
Sandhurst is only a new estate compared to the surrounding areas with houses being no more than 7-8 years old. However even with the relatively young age of the Sandhurst area we are still seeing issues within the estate.
Most of the homes in the Sandhurst estate have solar panels attached to their hot water systems. Most of these systems are good quality units however most of the panels are not frost tolerant. They were not required by law to be frost tolerant however when we get a cold autumn morning we constantly get issues with panel bursting due to frost. Its for this reason we recommend installing a frost valve on the panels before you have issues. The panels are very expensive and can be difficult to replace especially if they are located on the second story roof.
Water pressure is also an issue for the homes in Sandhurst. We have replaced numerous toilet internals, fixed burst water pipes and replaced tap ware that prematurely failed due to exposure to high water pressure. Some homes do have pressure regulators fitted however most don’t causing major issues. If you live in Sandhurst we always recommend you have a pressure regulator installed.
